Step 1: Start with the hind legs
If you have been following our how-to-draw guide to drawing various animals, you already know how to draw the hind leg. For those of you who do not, let us explain it to you.
On the left side of the paper, mark your starting point. This will be the hind of the elephant. From this point, draw a freehand slanting line towards the inside. Now from the centre of this line, draw another slanting line towards the outside. We will draw another slanting line parallel to this. This is the back leg. Now, towards the left of the first line drawn, draw a curve. Now you have the structure of both hind legs ready. It is time to draw the feet. Step 5: Draw the face
Drawing the elephant face can be a little difficult. By following the simple steps below, you can easily draw the face. Make a little bulge for the head and extend the line to make the trunk of the elephant. Draw a tusk and the eye of the elephant. Elephant tusks are modified second incisors in the upper jaw. They replace deciduous milk teeth around 6–12 months of age and develop at a constant rate of approximately 17 cm (7 in) every year. A newly designed tusk has a smooth enamel top that fades off over time. Dentine is known as ivory, and its cross-section is made up of crisscrossing line patterns known as "engine turning," which result in diamond-shaped regions.
