    Probability Distribution

Make up one's mind the value of c so that each of the following functions can serve every bit a probability distribution of the discrete random variable Ten:

    (a) f(x) = c(ten^2 + 4) for x=0,i,two,3;
    (b) f(10) = c(ii,ten)(3,3-x) for 10=0,1,2

    Solution:

    a)

    x 0 one ii iii

    f(x) 4 5 8 xiii

    F(0) = f(0) = 4
    F(1) = f(0) + f(1) = 4 + 5 = 9
    F(ii) = f(0) + f(1) + f(2) = iv + 5 + 8 = 17
    F(three) = f(0) + f(1) + f(2) + f(3) = 4 + 5 + eight + 13 = 30

    how can I summate c

and in the book answer is one/30.

    b)

    =c(2+iii,ten+three-10)
    =c(5,three)
    =10

    answer in book is 1/ten

    can anybuddy explain

    ∑f(10) =i

make summation of the functions f(0),f(1),f(ii)...

    then you can find c
